TQ presents update of its flagship module TQMx110EB: with 11th generation Intel Core and Intel Xeon processors (H-series) – for tough, industrial use

TQ, one of the leading embedded specialists and technology service providers, presents its module flagship TQMx110EB with new processor variants for tough, industrial use and a long-term availability of 15 years. The COM Express Basic module supports the Intel high-end mobile processors (codenamed Tiger Lake H) newly introduced by Intel in August this year for applications in embedded and industrial environments.

With the TQMx110EB, TQ now offers a module with 8-core x86 processors as well as the latest innovations in x86 PC technology even for applications with extended requirements for temperature, reliability, long-term availability and real-time support. Application areas such as medical technology, aviation, industrial image processing, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, industrial automation, robotics and industrial IoT thus benefit from this new, particularly energy-efficient high-end technology.

The TQMx110EB sets new standards in terms of CPU, GPU and system performance for COM Express-based embedded system solutions and is now also offered with long-term available embedded processors that are also specified for negative temperature ranges depending on the model. Intel's 11th generation Core and Xeon processors are based on the latest microarchitecture and are particularly energy-efficient thanks to the 10nm manufacturing process: versions with 45 W CPU Thermal Design Power (TDP) as well as more economical versions with 25 W CPU TDP are available for realizing fanless systems. The equipment with up to eight cores / 16 threads, 24 MB cache and powerful Intel UHD graphics of the twelfth generation (based on the Intel graphics architecture Iris Xe) make the module perfectly applicable for demanding multi-tasking applications and workload consolidation. Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Vision solutions additionally benefit from new Vector Neural Network instruction sets (VNNI) that provide a huge performance boost for inference applications.

I am very pleased that we, as a close and long-standing Intel partner with Titanium status, can now also offer the latest processor technology for sophisticated embedded solutions and thus make maximum performance available to all our customers. Our robust, high-performance embedded modules make the innovative processors ideally suited for individual industrial solutions; and TQ realizes all of this with the quality standard Made in Germany - completely in-house from development to production. «

Thanks to the new, optimized Intel UHD graphics controller, the embedded module provides impressive graphics performance and brilliant, high-resolution 8K display support. Together with four independent display outputs, this results in completely new application possibilities in the field of high-resolution multi-monitor display systems, which can also be used in harsh industrial environments, under outdoor conditions or in sensitive areas such as medical technology. The module also supports sophisticated video processing in the areas of video encoding / decoding / transcoding and rendering.

With the new processor generation, the embedded module provides 16 PCIe lanes (Gen 4) directly from the CPU to the COM Express connectors and thus offers the possibility to connect additional graphics cards, frame grabbers, high-performance IO cards and NVMe storage with extremely high bandwidth directly to the CPU and to achieve highest system performance. The interface offers high flexibility: up to three devices in different combinations (x16, x8/x8 or x4/x4/x8) are supported. High-end applications in the field of embedded vision also benefit from this direct connection, since camera modules can deliver large amounts of data via high-speed PCIe directly to the CPU and memory without detours and without protocol overhead.

The up to 64 GB ultra-fast DDR4-3200 RAM also enables the highest performance throughout and avoids bottlenecks in the internal data flow. Depending on the processor model, ECC (Error Correction Code) is also supported to ensure reliable operation even in particularly critical system environments. As an additional option a super-fast NVMe x4 SSD with a capacity of up to 1 TB can be soldered on the module.

Equipped with the new 500 chipset generation from Intel, which is connected to the CPU with high data bandwidth, the module offers numerous high-speed interfaces for communication with peripheral components, mass storage and additional functional extensions. The module provides eight additional PCIe lanes, fast 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet, 4x USB 3.2 Gen 2 (with 10 Gbit/s each), 8x USB 2.0 as well as four super-fast SATA III ports, which can be operated in various RAID configurations.
