New Power Architecture module from TQ with 10-GbE connectivity

The technology company TQ has introduced the TQMT2081 mini module. It combines a high-performance computing unit based on the T2081 processor from NXP with eight virtual cores and 10-Gb Ethernet interfaces into a very small footprint.
With the TQMT2081, users have access to all the interfaces and signals of the processor. This enables the suitable and specific solution to be directly selected and implemented for each design. The solution may involve the efficient exchange of information over Ethernet or parallel data processing using the integrated AltiVec® vector processor.
The evaluation platform (starter kit) includes both the module and a motherboard with a comprehensive number of interfaces and configuration options. Together with the Linux-based board-support package under Yocto, hardware tests and software development can be performed even before starting the design. This can reduce development times and production costs.
TQ is expanding its product range by an embedded module of the next power class with the new TQMT2081 based on the newest Power Architecture® technology. As it is pin-compatible with the existing TQMT1042 module, it is also suitable as a scalability solution within applications. With its large computing power and 10-Gb Ethernet connectivity, the TQMT2081 mini module provides a robust solution that is efficient in terms of both power and cost in a minimized form factor for duraböe capital goods having a long life.
