With image processing and AI toward the Smart City How the LGA module TQMa67xxL makes street lighting intelligent

Crosswalks, intersections, and other critical road areas present cities and infrastructure providers with a dual challenge: improving the safety of all road users—especially under poor visibility—while simultaneously reducing energy consumption and light pollution.

Traditional constant lighting is no longer a viable solution. What’s needed are intelligent systems that provide light only when it’s truly required actively enhancing traffic safety in the process. Our case study shows how this can be achieved through the use of AI and smart image processing based on the TQMa67xxL embedded module with TI’s AM67x processor.
