Servo motors for stair-climbing wheelchairs
Emergency medical personnel face extreme physical strain in patient transport, leading to stress, health issues, and even long-term disability. upstair, founded by Michael Heinrichs and Robert Beerwerth, aims to change that. Their new stair-climbing transport solution enables smooth, effortless transfers from door to door, reducing the need for up to six professionals to just one attendant.

Servo-Kit ILM-E85x23
The first upstair prototype used outrunner motors, which lacked the necessary form factor and technical specifications. By switching to ILM-E85x13 and ILM-E85x23 motors, upstair reduced weight, improved compactness, and ensured full sealing. Additionally, TQ’s German-based support provides direct assistance for technical questions, a major advantage for the upstair team.
