TQ handles PCB assembly for demanding electronics applications – from prototypes and small batches to high-volume production. As an experienced PCB assembly provider and E²MS partner, we combine SMD, THT, and mixed-technology assembly with end-to-end quality assurance and 100% traceability. Development, PCB assembly, and testing are all carried out under one roof. This shortens lead times and avoids interface losses.
Additional manufacturing services
In addition to PCB assembly, TQ offers a range of further manufacturing services for fully processed, conformally coated, and tested assemblies directly from a single source.
Our manufacturing process
At TQ, PCB assembly follows continuously optimized production processes with high manufacturing standards. Production takes place at a total of eight sites – including five in Germany as well as additional sites in Slovenia, China, and the USA – with harmonized machinery and a cross-site ERP system to provide customers with reproducible quality and short response times. Equipment also includes ESD-compliant manufacturing conditions and cleanrooms.

Quality assurance in PCB assembly
In PCB assembly, we rely on multi-stage inspection and testing procedures with our own MES system, which records all assembled units via serial number barcodes. This enables us to guarantee not only consistently high quality, but also end-to-end traceability and maximum reliability.

SMD assembly is a manufacturing process in which electronic components are soldered directly onto the surface of a printed circuit board (PCB). SMD stands for Surface Mount Device. Since no component leads need to be inserted through drilled holes, this process is particularly suitable for high component densities, miniaturization, and fully automated production.
THT assembly refers to the through-hole mounting of components on a printed circuit board. THT stands for Through-Hole Technology. Components with connecting leads are inserted through holes in the PCB and soldered on the underside, usually by wave soldering or selective soldering. THT components are particularly mechanically robust and are mainly used for connectors, transformers, relays, and other wired components.
TQ offers PCB assembly even for small quantities – from prototypes to medium-sized series. Small-series PCB assembly is a particular strength of TQ, as development and manufacturing take place under one roof, allowing design iterations to be implemented quickly. There is no minimum quantity.
Several testing methods are commonly used in PCB assembly to reliably ensure quality and functionality. TQ uses a multi-stage quality process for this: solder paste inspection (SPI) after stencil printing, automated optical inspection (AOI) after placement and soldering, X-ray inspection for BGA and underpitch components, as well as electrical tests such as flying probe, ICT, and customer-specific functional tests. Every assembly is fully traceable.
Yes, TQ can also handle component sourcing for PCB assembly on request. This includes supplier selection, qualification, and inventory management. As part of TQ’s Obsolescence Management program, components with limited availability are actively monitored and replaced with available alternatives in a timely manner. This helps ensure a stable and secure supply chain for PCB assembly over the long term.
TQ serves as a PCB assembly partner for demanding industrial and technology sectors. These include industrial automation, medical technology, drive technology, e-mobility, robotics, aerospace, IoT/Industry 4.0, as well as energy and smart grid applications.
The difference lies in the scope of services: As an E²MS system supplier, TQ offers significantly more than pure contract assembly. Development, PCB layout, PCB assembly, testing, and assembly services all come from a single source. This makes it possible to design products for manufacturability from an early stage, consider suitable testing methods right from the start, and manage the path from development to series production without changing suppliers.
