What is an EMS service provider – and why is that often no longer enough today?
Traditional EMS service providers primarily handle electronics manufacturing based on completed designs. Since they are often involved only in later project phases, the focus is usually on individual assemblies rather than the complete system.
As product complexity increases, the EMS model reaches its limits: if manufacturing is not involved early in development, aspects such as manufacturability, testability, and material availability are difficult to optimize. The process begins with product development, supported by continuous testing and resulting optimizations. Particular emphasis is placed on approaches such as Design for Manufacturing (DfM) and Design for Testing (DfT) to ensure products are optimized for efficient production and reliable verification from the outset.
Following development, TQ manufactures prototypes, small series, and medium-volume production runs at one of its eight harmonized and certified production sites across Europe, China, and the USA. TQ also supports industrialization and the transition to series production, as well as product certifications for international markets through its in-house accredited test laboratory, the TQ Product Compliance Center (TQ-PCC).
