Following TQ’s presentation of the COM Express Compact module TQMx80UC including mobile processors in spring, the technology company now offers additional product versions with 8th generation Intel® Core™ embedded processors. This module is also particularly suitable for industrial control systems, robotics applications, medical technology devices and point-of-sale applications, an also has long-term processor availability.
TQ already presented the product variants with mobile processors at embedded world 2019 in Nuremberg in February of this year. Due to their limited availability, TQ now also uses the embedded processors of the Intel Core U series. Depending on required functionality and performance the CPUs i7-8665UE, i5-8365UE, i3-8145UE and the Celeron 4305UE with dual or quad cores are available. With a thermal power dissipation of 15 watts TDP, four computing cores are now available for the first time in this power class (previously only two for the 7th generation U series). Nothing has changed in the other technical specifications.
The memory interface is equipped with the fast DDR4-2400 technology. The memory capacity ranges from 4 to 64 GB depending on the SO-DIMM modules used. Up to nine PCI Express lanes (Gen3; 8 GHz) are available for connecting up to five peripheral devices and offer flexible configuration via the BIOS. For the first time it includes the new standard USB 3.1 Gen 2, which allows transfer rates of up to 10 Gbit/s. Four high-speed interfaces are available for this purpose. In addition, eMMC Flash in sizes between 8 and 128 GByte is available for the first time on the module.
The COM Express Compact Module TQMx80UC with its dimensions of 95 x 95 mm and Type 6 pinout conforms to PICMG COM.0 R3.0 and fits the new TQ mainboard MB-COME6-3. Together with an 11 mm high heat spreader and a heatsink, this results in an ideal evaluation platform.
The STKx80UC starter kit is available for initial performance and functionality tests. Customers can order it customized according to their requirements with processors, main memory and various display variants.
