As a Platinum Partner of NXP Semiconductors, TQ-Systems is pleased to offer a new embedded module based on the i.MX 94 application processor
Seefeld, March, 2026: TQ-Systems, a technology service provider and one of the leading embedded computing specialists, has announced the start of production for the new TQMa94xxLA embedded module. This LGA module, which measures 38 mm x 38 mm, is based on the i.MX 94 application processor from NXP Semiconductors and offers access to all its signal pins. The module comes equipped with the necessary memory and NXP PMICs. To meet the highest demands, TQ has enhanced the module with additional features, including an external real-time clock (RTC), robust Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI) NOR flash memory and a security chip. Thanks to the i.MX 94 processor's versatility and the module concept, the module can be seamlessly and flexibly integrated into a wide range of devices and control systems according to customer requirements. TQ's many years of design experience have resulted in a highly reliable module that meets the highest standards.

TQ has developed a new embedded module, the TQMa94xxLA solder mdule (LGA), which is based on the NXP i.MX 94 application processor. It offers a combination of high performance and efficiency in a compact design, enabling developers to implement powerful, cost-effective and energy-efficient machine learning (ML) applications. This is made possible by the new generation of i.MX 94 application processors, which feature up to four Cortex-A55 cores and clock frequencies of up to 1.7 GHz. The Arm Cortex-A55 processor core utilizes DynamIQ technology (successor to Arm's big.LITTLE concept) and features the latest Armv8.2-A architecture enhancements with a dedicated instruction set to accelerate machine learning. In addition, the NXP i.MX-94 family is equipped with the eIQ Neutron Neural Processing Unit (NPU), delivering a performance of up to 0.5 TOPS.
Thanks to its support for two integrated Cortex-M33 (333 MHz) and two Cortex-M7 (800 MHz) processor cores, the module also offers excellent safety and security features and real-time performance. Additionally, the integrated EdgeLock Secure Enclave in the i.MX 94 application processors provides enhanced security and compliance with cybersecurity regulations and standards. The EdgeLock SE050 or SE051 security chip is also available as an optional assembly.
The module is equipped with 32-bit LPDDR4 memory, which can be expanded to 16 GB. Additionally, it features a Quad SPI NOR flash memory with a capacity of up to 256 MB and an eMMC with a capacity of up to 256 GB. Further system components, such as an energy-saving and temperature-stable external real-time clock (RTC), user EEPROM memory, a temperature sensor, and a gyroscope sensor complete the module design.
"As a long-standing partner of NXP, we are delighted to be able to offer a new module based on the i.MX 94 application processors. This CPU is characterized above all by its network support," explains Konrad Zöpf, Deputy Director TQ Embedded and Product Management ARM / Layerscape at TQ. A three-port TSN Ethernet switch, a triple TSN MAC controller and a two-port EtherCAT sub-device controller are available to the user. The i.MX 94 family also boasts high-speed interfaces such as PCIe and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet with TSN support, as well as highly scalable computing power (Dual/Quad Cortex A55). "The new module is therefore an ideal platform for a wide range of applications in building and industrial automation as well as in control systems with real-time, safety and security requirements," emphasizes Konrad Zöpf.
To accelerate development further, TQ offers the MBa94xxCA evaluation board, which provides access to all of the TQMa94LA's interfaces. The board has seven Ethernet interfaces, five of which can be used simultaneously, including EtherCAT, SPE (Single Pair Ethernet), and SFP+ options. Additionally, it has two CAN FD interfaces, one RS485 interface, a LVDS interface, two analog-in interfaces, four digital-in/out interfaces, and USB 2.0 / USB 3.0, as well as Wi-Fi 6. There is a M.2 (Key M) port and a M.2 (Key B) port available for expansion.
"TQ is a long-standing and reliable NXP partner for embedded board solutions. In addition to TQ's embedded modules based on i.MX application processors and Layerscape communication CPUs, users will find solution modules that benefit from NXP and TQ's many years of cooperation and expertise in hardware and software solutions. This enables customers to implement their own solutions, saving valuable development time," summarizes Konrad Zöpf.
